As being a part of Exposure, a photography organization, and the curation team of AxA, a student led gallery, I had the opportunity to curate and produce the bauhaus.photo exhibit at IIT. The exhibition celebrates Bauhaus’s 70th anniversary and includes 70 original framed photographs from the Bauhaus-Archive in Berlin. The exhibition space was built by the students at AxA. Based on research, the photos were curated and organized into catagories: life of Bauhaus, and faces of Bauhaus. We took the opportunity to reflect on the Illinois Institute of Technology history as Mies Van Der Rohe continued his legacy at this school after leaving Berlin, we exhibited photos from IIT’s archives. Current students have also participated sharing photographs of the recent life and faces of IIT creating a continuous narrative from Bauhaus in 1930’s to Meis’s arrival at IIT in 1950’s to the new generation of IIT.
