In the outskirts of Chicago, a beautiful site was chosen for this artist’s retreat. It is surrounded by a tall trees and beautiful nature. This project is a retreat for experimental musicians. It provides them with serene excluded experience to motivate their creative minds. In the center of the site a building that includes bedrooms, lounge areas, recording studios, and a a special performance space. The space is meant to inhabit multiple bands or artists at the same time to work individually or collabarate on projects. Around the site, a scattering of acoustic sound sculptures inspired by instruments and ancient monuments are available to the artists to explore sounds. Each provide a unique acoustical effect including amplification, reverb, delays, etc. Inspired by the surrounding sculptures, a intrusion in the middle of the building creates the perfomance space. Due it’s instrument like form, it has a monumental effect to the sounds played from within.
